Jab Tak Hai Jaan Lyrics

Teri aankhon ki namkeen mastiyan
Teri hansi ki beparwaah gustakhiyaan
Teri zulfon ki leharaati angdaiyaan
Nahi bhoolunga main
Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan

Tera haath se haath chhodna
Tera saayon se rukh modna
Tera palat ke phir na dekhna
Nahin maaf karunga main
Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan

Baarishon mein bedhadak tere naachne se
Baat baat pe bewajah tere roothne se
Chhoti chhoti teri bachkani badmashiyon se
Mohabbat karunga main
Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan..

Tere jhoothe kasme vaadon se
Tere jalte sulagte khwabon se
Teri be-raham duaaon se
Nafrat karunga main
Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan

Bharat Bandh: Life hit in many cities, trains stopped, PM's effigy burnt, leaders detained

The day-long nationwide bandh called by the Left parties and NDA today, demanding a roll back of the government's decision to hike diesel prices, cap subsidised cooking gas cylinders and against allowing FDI in multi-brand retail has hit life at many places in the country. BJP leader

Ravishankar Prasad and CP Thakur have been detained in Patna for protesting against the government. Several other opposition leaders have also been derained.

Samajwadi Party workers blocked rail traffic at Allahabad railway station in the morning. BJP Yuva Morcha activists stopped trains at Patna junction.

Workers of SP, CPM, CPI, TDP, BJD, JD (S), All India Forward Bloc and the RSP have plans to organise picketing, demonstrations and court arrest.

A scuffle broke out between the TMC workers and BJP workers in Howrah when BJP workers were taking out a rally in support of the bandh and TMC workers were opposing it.

The bandh did not have much effect in the morning in Delhi as Autos and buses could be seen plying on the road and Delhi metro was also running smoothly. However, some schools in the capital were closed due to the bandh according to the reports.

According to media reports, protesters burned effigy of the prime minister at some places in UP.

In Bangalore, government and private schools were shut.

Uttar Pradesh

Samajwadi Party workers today held demonstrations in some parts of Uttar Pradesh and stopped a train in Allahabad in support of the bandh against FDI in
retail and hike in diesel prices.

Raising slogans against FDI in retail, a group of workers held a demonstration outside the Walmart store at Sultanpur in the state.

A group of workers also held a protest outside Divisional Railway Manager's office in Hazratganj. Reports of similar protests also poured in from other
districts including Allahabad where activists of the youth wing of the ruling SP stopped the Bareilly-bound Triveni Express at 5.30 am on Niranjan railway bridge.

The protesters assembled in large numbers along the railway tracks and also burnt the effigies of the Prime Minister and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

The agitation delayed the onward journey of the train by an hour. Senior SP leaders including SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav are likely to hold a protest later in the day against hike in diesel and LPG prices and allowing FDI in retail.

SP has directed its workers not to take law in their hands and hold peaceful protest, SP spokesman Rajendra Chowhdury said.

West Bengal

Life in Kolkata and elsewhere in West Bengal was disrupted by a 12-hour bandh called by Left parties. Though airport services were normal, train services in Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway were disrupted, officials said.

Running of trains in South Eastern Railway to and from Howrah were disrupted since 8.30 am due to obstruction caused by protesters at Ramrajatala station.

Howrah-Pune Duranto Express, which started from Howrah on time, was stopped by the squatters in Kolkata, railway sources said.

Eastern Railway spokesperson said that train services on Howrah division of ER were disrupted as bandh supporters blocked rail tracks at several stations.
The obstructions were made at Katwa, Jougram, Agradeep, Ahemedpur, Bagnapara, Bhadreswar, Baidyabati and other stations.

Six long-distance trains reached Howrah this morning before the bandh started. He said that in Sealdah division of ER, train services were disrupted as bandh supporters obstructed rail traffic at Bongaon, Hasnabad and Diamond Harbour sections, he said.

However, train services were normal in Sealdah-Dankuni, Sealdah main line upto Kalyani, Namkhana-Sealdah and Budge Budge-Sealdah sections.

Services of the underground Metro rail, the city's lifeline, were normal, officials said. Airport sources said the flight operations were normal in
Kolkata airport, except cancellation of two Indigo flights - Kolkata-New Delhi and Kolkata-Agartala which were scheduled to fly in the morning.

Seven long-distance trains arrived at Sealdah and Kolkata stations before the bandh started. Very few private buses were on the road but taxis were
mostly off the roads in view of their 72-hour strike starting today in support of fare price hike. State-run buses and trams plied normally.

Educational institutions, shops and business establishments were by and large closed in the city. Joint Commissioner of Police (Kolkata), Jawed Shamim
told PTI that there has been no untoward incident so far in the city.

Police pickets have been set up in various parts of the city to check any untoward incident. Officials of West Bengal government said that normalcy
would be ensured during today's general strike called by the Left in the state from 6 am. The strike coincides with NDA's Bharat Bandh over the same issue.

Odisha

Normal life was disrupted in Odisha, barring the western region, due to disruption in train and road traffic during the bandh. State government offices, banks and insurance offices remained closed on the occasion of 'Nuakhai'. Schools, colleges and other educational institutions remained closed due to the festival celebrated with gaiety in western districts like Sambalpur, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Jharsuguda and Deogarh.

Over a dozen trains were stopped at several railway stations including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Khurda Road, Bhadrak, Balasore and Berhampur as bandh supporters staged dharna on the tracks, an official of East Coast Railway (ECoR) said. Vehicular movement was disrupted in many parts of the state as passenger buses, trucks and auto-rickshaw remained off the roads, police sources said. A large number of passengers were seen stranded at railway stations and bus stands at many places, while roads wore a deserted look during the shut-down. City bus services in many places like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri were suspended. In Bhubaneswar, supporters of BJP and left parties staged blocked roads and picketed separately at different places in a bid to enforce the bandh called by them.

Shops, business establishments and commercial centres downed their shutter in major areas including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Balasore, Baripada, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Puri.

Elaborate security arrangements were made by the police with heavy deployment of force throughout the state to prevent any untoward incident during the shut-down. "The situation is peaceful and no untoward incident has been reported from any place. We are keeping a close vigil," a senior police official said.

Bihar

The opposition-sponsored Bharat bandh began this morning with protesters disrupting road and train services across Bihar. A group of BJP workers blocked rail traffic at Patna junction and stopped movement of a number of long distance express and passenger trains, official sources said.

The protesters shouted slogans against the UPA government at the Centre demanding roll back of FDI in multi-brand retail and diesel price hike.

There were reports of road blockade and disruption in train services from several districts from Bihar, the sources said.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made and large number of policemen deployed on the street in Patna and other parts of the state, they said.

There was no (no) report of any untoward incident from anywhere in the state.

Mumbai

The bandh evoked little response in the metropolis today owing to Ganesh festivities across Maharashtra. The Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have kept away from the day-long bandh due to the festival.

BJP leaders including Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Vinod Tawade will take to the streets later in the day to oppose Government's new reform measures.

Taxis, auto rickshaws and BEST buses were seen plying on the roads since morning even though few have stayed away fearing violence. Trains are also running on schedule both on Central and Western line.

Commercial establishments and markets in the city are expected to open later in the day. The immersion of Ganesh idols installed for a day-and-a half in homes across the state will take place this evening.

Police have stepped up bandobast in the city and suburbs to ward of any untoward incident. Meanwhile, apex transporters' body All India Motor Transport Congress is also on a 24-hour token strike against diesel price hike, demanding a rollback.

"All the trucks are off the roads since midnight and the strike is complete," claimed AIMTC President Malkit Singh. Of the 75 lakh trucks across the country, Maharashtra alone accounts for 23 lakhs.

Tamil Nadu

The bandh evoked a mixed response in Tamil Nadu today. No untoward incident was reported so far from across the state and the protest was so far peaceful, police said.

Government-run buses were on the road. However, autos affiliated to Left unions kept off the road even as a large number of commercial establishments and shops downed their shutters to join the protest. Schools and educational institutions remained open today and it was business as usual with government departments. The strike had little impact on airport operations as morning flights, both international and domestic numbering around 51 (till 10 am), departed and arrived on time.

A majority of the 3000-odd vegetable shops at the Koyambedu wholesale market remained closed, a representative of the vendors' association said. DMK, a key constituent in the Congress-led UPA coalition at the Centre, had expressed its support with its labour wing, Labour Progressive Front, participating in today's protest. Party chief M Karunanidhi had blamed the Centre for further burdening the common man, who was already reeling under the impact of hike in power tariff, bus fares and milk prices effected by the Jayalalithaa government.

He had asked his party members to extend "full co-operation" for the protest in a "peaceful" and "successful manner". Meanwhile, a report from Puducherry said the bandh was near total in the Union Territory. While private buses and autos went off the roads, government-run buses operated under convoy system. All shops and business establishments remained closed. Government schools functioned with less attendance of students and private schools remained closed. Attendance in government offices was normal, official sources said.

Parties not supporting Bandh

However, many political parties have stayed away from the bandh.

Trinamool Congress which reduced ruling UPA-II to minority by announcing to pull out its 19 MPs from the coalition, has opposed the bandh stating that a bandh served no purpose.

She said that taking advantage of the diesel price hike, the prices of some commodities were sought to be increased and a bandh would further aggravate the situation.

"We will not allow bandh forcibly," she said.

She said that offices in West Bengal would remain open on Thursday and state-run buses and trams would be on the roads.

Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) which has 21 members of Parliament in Lok Sabha, too said it will not participate in the nation-wide strike called by opposition parties on Thursday.

Samajwadi Party has expressed displeasure on government's decision on FDI and diesel price. It announced stir against government's decisions on diesel, LPG and FDI. The party has 22 MPs in Lok Sabha.

Congress ally DMK, however, has decided to support the bandh. DMK president M Karunanidhi asked party workers and front organisations to participate in the strike and make it a success.

Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha (GJMM) too has decided not to participate in the countrywide strike.

With the Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena staying away from the bandh, the BJP is banking upon support from JD(U) and traders' bodies of the nation. Various associations of traders and retailers have backed the bandh.

Traders' body CAIT said its members in different states will observe bandh in protest against the government's decision to allow FDI in multi-brand retail sector.

"All traders and retailers across Mumbai and Thane will down their shutters. We are not supporting any political party but fighting a battle for our own survival," said Viren Shah, president of the Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Associations.

Several leaders of different political parties, which are also observing the nation-wide bandh, will address a rally of retail traders at Jantar Mantar, Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Praveen Khandelwal said.

About 25,000 trade associations representing five crore traders, hawkers, labourers and farmers will participate in the bandh, Khandelwal claimed.

To discourage government employees from participating in bandh, the government in Assam would enforce pay cut, break in service and disciplinary action against employees who do not report for work during 'Bharat Bandh'on Thursday.

No Anna Hazare on banners? Arvind Kejriwal says will carry photo in his heart

No Anna Hazare on banners? Arvind Kejriwal says will carry photo in his heart

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal says he will carry Anna Hazare's photograph in his heart, after being told by the 75-year-old activist that he cannot use his picture in his campaigns. The Gandhian activist, who was the face of the anti-corruption movement for almost two years, officially announced the split of Team Anna yesterday and said he refused to support the political ambitions of Mr Kejriwal, once considered his closest aide.

Mr Kejriwal, describing Anna's decision as "shocking, unbelievable, unfortunate and sad," also said today that it was at Anna Hazare's behest that the movement became political. "It was Anna who asked us to conduct a survey on whether to form a political party or not. He chose SMS, internet & social media. Everything is being sold out in the country; coal, shops, retail business etc. So there is a sense of urgency in us to change the system, " he said.

"My best wishes are with them...Both of us have chosen separate paths," Anna had said yesterday, also requesting Mr Kejriwal not to use his photo and name in his campaigns hereafter. Mr Kejriwal said today, "Anna's photograph and name are printed in our hearts. We will continue to take his blessings."

Differences in Team Anna have been obvious for some months now, but the official break came after a nine-hour-long meeting in Delhi on Wednesday, that was often acrimonious, as the senior leaders of  India Against Corruption took sides. Anna's supporters allegedly said he had been exploited; the other side said that he had been propped up by leaders from Delhi, Press Trust of India reported. Immediately after that meeting, Anna was reportedly closeted in a meeting with yoga guru Ramdev at a house in Delhi's Golf Links; former Army Chief General VK Singh is believed to have been present.

Anna opposes the decision to go political and is backed on this by key members of his movement like Justice Santosh Hegde and former top cop Kiran Bedi. He has made clear that he will not campaign for the party being launched on October 2 by Mr Kejriwal and lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan. He wants to focus his efforts on pressuring the government to introduce a tough new law against graft based on the Lokpal Bill, a legislation that he has lobbied for for over two years, with Mr Kejriwal by his side.

Mr Kejriwal and his associates had released the results of the survey earlier this week and said 76 per cent of the respondents wanted Team Anna to enter politics. Anna has rejected that poll and said that elections require huge funds, which will be tough for the activists to organise without compromising on their values. He also said that it will be difficult to ensure that candidates are not corrupted if they are elected.

With Anna at its forefront and Mr Kejriwal as his right-hand man, the India Against Corruption campaign turned the Lokpal Bill into a national cause last year. Named for the national ombudsman it seeks to create to tackle complaints of venality against public servants, the Bill has been passed by the Lok Sabha but failed to clear the Rajya Sabha in the last Winter session. India was introduced to the Lokpal Bill through large street demonstrations and sit-in camps, many of them held while Anna went on lengthy fasts.

Over the last few months, however, the protests drew thin crowds. At the last session in August, the poor turnout emboldened the government to ignore the protest in Delhi; no effort was made to ask activists like Mr Kejriwal, who was on a hunger strike, to end his fast. After six days, with poor response, Mr Kejriwal said that the need of the hour appeared to be forming a political alternative. Anna immediately said he would not contest elections or join any party, but said he would support the new front. In the last few days, he has distanced himself completely from Mr Kejriwal's plans.

Apple delays iPhone 5 delivery time to Oct

Apple's stock closed above $700 for the first time on Tuesday, the day after it announced that orders for its iPhone 5 topped 2 million in the first 24 hours. Shares closed at $701.91 Tuesday, up $2.13 from Monday's close. They rose as high as $702.33 in afternoon trading related stories The rally in Apple's stock price puts the company's market value at $658 billion.

The $700 mark is somewhat of an arbitrary milestone for Apple's stock, representing little more than a nice round number and a record high trading level.

The company, after all, already enjoys the distinction as the world's most valuable public company ever, at least if one ignores inflation. Google, its Silicon Valley neighbor, saw its stock price surpass $700 in 2007. On Tuesday, Google's stock was trading at $712.28. But the online search leader's market capitalization is well below Apple's at $236.4 billion.

Apple started taking orders for the iPhone 5 at 3 a.m. EDT Friday. Orders during the first 24 hours more than doubled what Apple had for its predecessor, the iPhone 4S, over the same period last October.

"This was despite somewhat lukewarm reviews and some claiming it had 'lack of a wow factor,' Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu said in a note to investors. "We continue to believe many underestimate iPhone 5 in that it is a significant update and will drive a powerful product cycle."

Wu estimates that Apple will likely ship 27 million iPhones in the current quarter. That's up from his earlier estimate of 26 million.

Apple said on Monday that while most orders will be delivered this Friday, when the phone goes on sale in stores in the US and eight other countries, demand for the iPhone 5 exceeds the initial supply. That means some of the devices will be delivered in October.

Buyers who have a two-year service agreement with AT&T, Sprint or Verizon Wireless are able to order the phone for $199 (16 gigabyte model), $299 (32 GB) or $399 (64 GB).

The iPhone 5 represents the first major revision of the iPhone's screen size since the first model was introduced in 2007. The new iPhone has an elongated screen, at 4 inches measured diagonally. That allows room for another row of icons and lets widescreen movies fit better. Earlier models had 3.5-inch screens. The new phone is also thinner and weighs less than previous versions. It can operate on LTE cellular networks and sports a new processor and updated software.

Apple share have risen 86 per cent since October 5, when CEO Steve Jobs died.

Kasab gets copy of SC's death sentence verdict

Mammu's family ever ready to hang Kasab

Mumbai terror attack convict Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab, lodged in a high security jail here, has been given certified copy of the last month's Supreme Court verdict confirming death sentence on him, while he remained silent on filing a mercy petition.

"Kasab was given certified copy of his death sentence confirmation verdict three days ago on which he had signed. One copy was given to him and the other was sent to the Supreme Court," an official of Arthur Road Jail said.

Asked if the Pakistani gunman had been explained about options before him, including moving a mercy plea, the official replied, "Kasab was told about all procedures and rights he has as a convict, including moving a mercy petition before the President, but he did not react."

When the terrorist, lodged in bomb-proof "anda cell" (egg shaped cell), was first informed about the apex court upholding his death penalty, Kasab did not appear shocked, the official added.

On August 29, the Supreme Court confirmed the death penalty awarded to the LeT operative by the trial court and later upheld by the Bombay High Court. A Bench of Justices Aftab Alam and C K Prasad dismissed the 25-year-old's plea challenging his conviction and death sentence in the 26/11 case.

Kasab and nine other Pakistani terrorists had landed in south Mumbai on November 26, 2008 after traveling from Karachi by sea and had gone on a shooting spree at various landmarks, killing 166 people, including foreigners. While Kasab was captured alive, the other terrorists were killed by security forces. The SC also upheld the acquittal of two Indians who were alleged to be co-conspirators in the case.

Heroine (2012) Movie

Heroine is an upcoming Indian film co - written and directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. The film revolves around the life of a once successful film actress Mahi Khanna, whose career is on the decline. Though speculated to be based on the lives of yester year divas like Madhubala and Marilyn Monroe, Bhandarkar has denied the reports saying that the movie is a “contemporary film which reveals the underbelly of the movie industry and its well-kept secrets.” Bhandarkar said that he considers the movie his magnum opus. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was cast to play the lead role of Mahi Khanna. The shooting of the film is currently postponed due to Rai's pregnancy. Though news about Kareena Kapoor replacing Aishwarya Rai is going around, UTV has categorically denied and clarified that no casting has been finalised for Heroine.

Production (Development)

After the completion of his movie Jail, Bhandarkar was toying with the idea of making a movie portraying the lives of movie actresses. He had even bought the rights for using the title Heroine for his movie from Guddu Dhanoa, producer of movies like Deewana and Big Brother.[14] Though he announced in 2010 that he is working with UTV Motion Pictures to make Heroine, he decided to make Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji before starting with Heroine. Bhandarkar had prepared a three-hour documentary on Hollywood greats like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Eva Gardner and Vivien Leigh as a reference point to make his protagonist more rounded, complete and contemporary and had put together an acting workshop for his lead actor to get into the skin of the role. Bhandarkar later told in an interview that he has been subconsciously preparing for the movie ever since he joined the industry.

Casting

Bhandarker had approached Kareena Kapoor for his movie. Bhandarkar stated that Kapoor had been his first choice for his previous movies Page 3 and Fashion. Kapoor later opted out of the movie without giving any official reason. Various media speculations were made on the reason as to why Kareena refused to be part of the movie. Some reports suggested that due to lack of dates she had refused the movie. Another section reported that she was unhappy with the script which demanded her to share intimate screen space with five different men. A majority of the media speculated that the reason why Kareena did not accept the offer was because the story had uncanny resemblance to her personal life. The movie shows that the lead protagonist gets into a relationship with a married actor and a portion of the movie shows the actress’s relationship with the children of the actor from his first marriage. Though the director consistently persuaded Kareena to be a part of the movie, it was finally decided that the movie will not have Kareena Kapoor in the leading role.

Bhandarkar later declaraed officially that the film was shelved as Kareena Kapoor had decided not to do the movie. He said in various interviews that he was working on different scripts and would be making a male – oriented movie this time over. It was later being rumored that Katrina Kaif was approached for the movie which was denied outright by the actress. The co-producers of the film, UTV Motion Pictures, then approached Aishwarya to be a part of the film. The news got more attention when Siddharth Roy Kapoor, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, started approaching Aishwarya for various script hearings. Finally, after many discussions between the producers, Bhandarkar and Aishwarya, it was announced both by the director and the actor separately that they are going to work on Heroine. Bhandarkar told that he had restructured the script keeping Aishwarya in mind. It is said that Aishwarya pushed the schedule of Satte Pe Satta remake to 2012 so that she could completely concentrate on this project. Arjun Rampal was the first actor to be signed opposite Aishwarya in Heroine. Sources confirmed the news saying that Bhandarkar was going to present Rampal in a never-before-seen manner. Rampal and Rai acted together in the 2003 movie Dil Ka Rishta. A second lead actor is also being searched who will be apparently playing the central character's young love interest. Initial names suggested included Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan and Prateik Babbar. Another character of a yester-year actress based on the likes of famous actress Nadira was also being talked about. The film was shelved after 10 days of shooting with Rai due to the sudden announcement of her pregnancy.

Styling

The styling of the key characters was done by ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

Promotion & Publicity (Release of First Look)

The first look of the movie was released as part of the 64th Cannes Film Festival. A promotional poster was released during a press conference in which Ronnie Screwvala of UTV Motion Pictures, Madhur Bhandarkar, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan officially announced the movie. The director said, "The movie is a glamorous yet bold story of the internal journey of a superstar. I am certain it will appeal to audiences across the globe and Aishwarya was a perfect choice for the role. In fact, no one could’ve essayed it better." Screwvala stated “With Heroine, we plan to take things to the next level. When you watch the film, you will feel that the role was written with someone as talented and stunning as Aishwarya in mind.” The actress too admitted that she was "looking forward to this new journey in the movie.” It was also announced that Aishwarya will be have a wardrobe of more than 40 outfits designed by Manish Malhotra in the film. Explaining why he was launching the project in Cannes, Screwvala alluded to Rai's star power saying, "She is the brand ambassador for India and for Indian cinema when it comes to the French Riviera." The actress was quick to deny any reference to her personal life being portrayed in the movie and said that the entire idea was a result of Bhandarkar's conceptualization. The Official Press Release distributed as a part of the announcement stated that "The film is based on the life and times of a superstar heroine, Mahi from the dream factory we call 'Bollywood'. The film is a daring, shocking, glamorous, scandalous behind-the-scenes account of the reality behind the world of glitz and glamour that our film stars inhabit. For a country obsessed with films and film stars, Heroine will take audiences on a voyeuristic journey to see what really goes on in the lives of India's sweethearts."

Soundtrack

It was announced that music director duo Salim-Sulaiman, who had earlier worked with Madhur Bhandarkar in his critically acclaimed movie Fashion, will be composing the songs for Heroine.
